CSK vs RR Highlights IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings beats Rajasthan by five wickets, remains alive in playoffs race

FOUR! Full on off-stump by Boult and Rizvi leans into the drive through cover for a boundary. Cut away over point to the boundary and CSK wins by five wickets. 

Burger comes from around the wicket to Gaikwad. Flicked through midwicket for a single. One more for Rizvi at third man. SIX! Dug into the pitch and pulled by Gaikwad over deep backward square-leg. A couple of dot balls to end the over. 

Sandeep to bowl. A couple of singles to start the over. FOUR! Low full toss and Rizvi tucks it off his pads and finds the boundary at midwicket. 

Here comes Avesh Khan. Gaikwad is almost run out off the first ball of the over as Jadeja calls for a quick one after tapping this to extra-cover. 

OUT! Jadeja has been given out for obstructing the field. Gaikwad sent him back after Jadeja wanted the second. But Jadeja seemed to have changed directions in trying to scamper back and obstructed Samson’s throw directed towards the stumps at the non-striker’s end. 

Rizvi comes in next as Impact Player. Mitchell goes out. 

Chahal bowls out. FOUR! Dangled wide outside off and Gaikwad pounces on it, cutting it to the point boundary. Full and slow on off and flicked to long-on by Jadeja for a single. Excellent save at long-on by Buttler. Definitely saved five runs there. He had the ball in hand for a while and flicked it back inside the rope as he dived backwards to save this. 

Ashwin bowls out. SIX! Ashwin comes from around the wicket. Dube wallops this over long-on for half a dozen. FOUR! Wide outside off and slapped to the cover boundary by Dube. That’s hundred runs on the board for CSK, in 13.2 overs. This is angling down leg-side and called wide. FOUR! Width outside off and cut away by Dube to the boundary. This over has probably sealed the fate of this contest. OUT! Dube is caught at long-on off the last ball of the over. 

Another Chahal over and the batters are happy just picking the singles with the required run rate below seven an over. 

Burger from around the wicket to Gaikwad. OUT! Moeen holes out at deep point. An uppish drive and he has sliced this straight to the fielder. Shivam Dube ends the over with a single. 

Chahal again. Just seven runs from the over as the CSK batters are in no visible hurry to finish this match. 

Ashwin for his third over. Two runs in four balls. Just three runs from the over. 

Avesh Khan into the attack. Three runs in first two balls. Gaikwad has dropped anchor. Singles and doubles becoming key on this slow pitch. 

Yuzvendra Chahal into the attack. Two dots to begin with. OUT! Mitchell is given out LBW. Mitchell takes a review though. Three reds and Mitchell has to walk back. Key breakthrough for RR. Just one run from the over. 

Nandre Burger into the attack. Short ball and Gaikwad hooks it for SIX over midwicket. 10 runs from the over. 

Ashwin continues. Mitchell hits the first ball for four! And another boundary. Down the leg and Mitchell hits it behind for four. Another 11-run over. 

Sandeep for his second over. Drifting down the leg and Mitchell guides it for four towards fine leg. Another slot ball and Mitchell slogs it away for four towards square leg. 11 runs from the over. 

Ashwin into the attack. OUT!! Ravindra goes for a slog sweep, ends up hitting high in the air and Ashwin takes the catch himself. 

Daryl Mitchell in at three. Six runs and a wicket in that over. 

Trent Boult continues. Ravindra with the flick off the wrist and gets a four towards square leg. SIX! Short ball and Ravindra upper cuts it. 12 runs from the over. 

Sandeep Sharma from the other end. Three runs in first two balls. Ravindra plays a lofted drive over mid on for four! Another quick single! Looks like CSK has realised most of its run will come via running and not boundaries. 

Trent Boult begins proceedings. Rachin Ravindra starts off with two dot balls. A quick single. A double to end the over. Four runs off it. 

OUT! Jurel departs. Sliced in the air and taken at extra-cover. OUT! Two in two for Deshpande as Shubham Dubey is caught at backward point trying to dab this late. SIX! This is slapped over long-off and all the way for a maximum by Parag. Just a single to end the innings. 

Thakur bowls out now. Jurel gets an inside edge for a single off the first ball. Back-of-the-hand slower one into the pitch and Parag miscues the pull. Dropped by Rizvi in front of long-on. Just seven runs from the penultimate over. 

Deshpande returns. SIX! Full toss and that hammered over deep midwicket by Deshpande for a maximum. Eleven runs from the over. 

FOUR! Whipped off the pads by Jurel to the fine-leg fence as Simarjeet bowls out. FOUR! Parag pulls this to the midwicket boundary with vehemence. Simarjeet bowls out with figures three for 24 in four overs. 

Thakur with the ball again. SIX! Full on the legs and whipped over square-leg for a maximum by Jurel. That also brings up the hundred for RR in 15.3 overs. 

Simarjeet comes back. OUT! Samson holes out at mid-off off a yorker and departs for a sluggish 19-ball 15. Dhruv Jurel the new batter. Starts with a tight single. Defends the ball over the bowler and hares off the mark.

Jadeja bowls out. SIX! Parag unfurls the slog sweep and clears the deep midwicket boundary. Ten runs from the over as Royals finally seem to have successfully shifted gears. 

Theekshana returns. He gets the last two deliveries of the over to skid under the bat - two dot balls to end the over. Just five singles from it. 

Jadeja again. Dropped! Theekshana juggles and finally spills this chance at deep point. Parag went for the reverse-sweep and gets a reprieve on 15. Another sedate over. Six runs from the over. 

Thakur comes back. Parag and Samson are not really timing their shots too well. Five singles and a brace from the over. 

Jadeja. Three singles in three balls. CSK has been very economical so far. Five singles from the over. 

Simarjeet. Buttler ramps and it goes straight into the hands of fielder at deep fine leg. Tushar Deshpande takes a good catch.
