King in the house: Shah Rukh Khan, KKR Co-owner, was at his team’s first home game of the season at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday. His side took on Royal Challengers Bangalore and eventually registered a big 81-run win.
Ruling the crowds: Broadcast cameras constantly panned to SRK in the stands, watching every twist and turn in the game keenly as the momentum in the game swung between RCB and KKR for the first half of the match.
Think tank delighted: After some stutters in the KKR batting order, the game was largely under the control of the home team. He was seen having animated conversations with team CEO Venky Mysore as KKR kept pushing RCB to the backseat.
Star power: SRK was not the only star in attendance. Co-owner Juhi Chawla was there as was Shanaya Kapoor.
SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan and veteran singer Usha Uthup was also in attendance. Uthup even co-ordinated her ensemble for the evening with KKR team colours.
Suhana Khan also represented the team and handed Shardul Thakur his Player of the Match trophy and cheque.
Victory lap: After his team’s thumping win, Shah Rukh went around the boundary at the Eden Gardens, greeting his fans to loud cheers from the fans who stayed back to catch a glimpse of the superstar.
Along the way, SRK also caught up with legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar who took a break from broadcast duties to pop by and say hello.
Upbeat: SRK ended his trip around the ground with his signature pose. The team mascot also joined in.
Shah Rukh went up to all his players and congratulated them. However, Nitish Rana’s lips were sealed at the post-match presser when asked what King Khan told his boys.
SRK also greeted the RCB players and spent some time chatting with Virat Kohli after the game.
Never a dull moment around King Khan: Despite the loss, SRK and Kohli were in good spirits. The actor also tried to teach the RCB star the hook step to Jhoome jo Pathaan from his movie Pathaan much to the popular batter’s amusement.
