LSG 98/4 in 14 overs: OUT! Ashwin bowls out. Krunal goes first ball of the over. He thumped this down the ground and a stunning relay catch taken by Buttler and Parag. Two singles to end the over. Fifty-run partnership up for Hooda and Krunal.

LSG 66/3 in 10 overs: Ashwin continues. Comes around the wicket to Krunal. Driven to long-off for a single. This is going down leg-side for a wide ball. Hooda steps out and flicks this through mid-wicket for a couple more. Driven back to the bowler next ball. Loud appeal for LBW as Ashwin turns it into Hooda on a length. Not given and Samson doesn't review it. Probably going down leg-side. Another single to end the over.

LSG 61/3 in 9 overs: McCoy with the ball. Back of length to Krunal and hops to dab this straight to short third for a dot ball. Too full this outside off and driven square of the wicket by Krunal and a brilliant save by Boult keeps it to three runs. SIX! Slow and short on leg by McCoy, begging to be hit and Hooda pulls this over the keeper for six runs. Two more slower balls and two singles to end the over. Strategic time out!

LSG 49/3 in 8 overs: Ashwin from the other end. Induces a leading edge with the carrom ball and it is just wide of Neesham at mid-on. Turning into Krunal and he tucks it off his pads for a single. Length on the stumps and Hooda makes room outside off to drive and collect one more. Full on the toes and turned away for a single behind square. Shorter and Hooda stays back to push this to long-on for one more. Single to end the over. Fifty runs up in eight overs.

LSG 44/3 in 7 overs: Chahal into the attack. A couple of singles off the first three balls. Chahal needs one wicket to reclaim the Purple Cap from Hasaranga. SIX! Flighted outside off and Krunal shimmies down a bit and launches this over long-on for half a dozen runs. Two more singles to end the over. 10 runs from the over.

LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS 36/3 IN 6 OVERS (END OF POWERPLAY)

LSG 34/3 in 6 overs: SIX! Rahul shifts gears with this delectable lofted drive over the covers for a maximum. Prasidh offered room outside just short of a length. OUT! Big wicket and it is the captain who departs. Back of a length outside off again but Rahul cuts this straight to point trying to clear the infield. Rahul finally breaks the deadlock with a single at square leg, tucking off his hips. Room outside off and Hooda digs this out to cover. One run from the over. Just two runs from the last 12 balls.

LSG 22/2 in 4 overs: Prasidh keeps it tight to Rahul. Keeps it on a length, angling into the stumps. Three dot balls. Shorter outside off and Rahul leans back and lets it go through to the keeper. Length ball into the channel and Rahul thumps it into the ground and it bounces off the surface to the cover fielder. Steered to third man for one and just one run from the over.

LSG 21/2 in 3 overs: OUT! Boult strikes and de Kock has cut this straight to point, where Neesham takes it. Umpires want to have a look if it was cleanly taken. It bounced in his palm and de Kock will have to go. Quinton de Kock c James Neesham b Trent Boult 7(8b 1x4). Badoni comes in. Gone first ball. OUT! Trapped him front. It came in a bit after pitching around middle and beat Badoni's flick on leg-side. Ayush Badoni lbw b Trent Boult 0(1b). Boult on a hat-trick. Hooda almost hands this to the slip fielder trying to dab this to third man and Rahul almost gets run out at the non-striker's end. FOUR! Crisply driven through the covers by Hooda as Boult over-pitches outside off.A couple and dot to end the over.

LSG 15/0 in 2 overs: FOUR! Full and straight to de Kock from Prasidh and de Kock gently pushes this past the bowler with the full face of the bat and the timing does the rest of the job. Pushed off the backfoot to cover for a single. Rahul gets an outside edge as he looks to dab this behind point but the third man fielder prefers to stay back and save the boundary rather than come up to take the catch. FIVE-WIDES! This bouncer goes awry, down leg, de Kock misses the pull, and Samson leaps to his right to save it but just past his fingertips for five extras. Single and dot to end the over.

LSG 3/0 in 1 over: Boult to de Kock from over the wicker. One slip in place. A big of in-swing first ball and de Kock taps it on the off-side and hares for a single. Boult comes from around the wicket to Rahul. Pushed off the front foot to cover for another one. Full on the pads and flicked to mid-wicket; dot ball. Another full on on the pads, going down leg, and one leg-bye as de Kock misses the flick. Boult now comes over the wicket to Rahul. Short of length angling a touch outside off and Rahul defends off the backfoot. Fuller and straighter and defended back.

Boult will get things underway with the ball. Rahul and de Kock have come out to open the innings for Lucknow Super Giants. LSG needs 179 runs to win from 120 balls.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS 178/6 IN 20 OVERS

RR 178/6 in 20 overs: Avesh bowls the final over. Single for Ashwin first ball as he thumps this one to mid-on. Low full-toss on the stumps and Boult swings and fetches a couple at deep square leg. Slower one, Boult swings and misses, and it goes over the stumps to the keeper. Just a single next ball as Boult drives down the ground. FOUR! Full on the stumps and hacked away to the mid-wicket fence. A couple more to end the innings as Ashwin swings across the line again in front of the stumps on leg-side. RR will be happy to get 10 runs off the last over but Lucknow will be happier to concede just 88 in the last 10.

RR 168/6 in 19 overs: Mohsin bowls out. Boult sends this like a thunderbolt to the long-off boundary. FOUR! Length ball outside off and slapped down the ground to the boundary. FOUR! RR 149/4 in 17 overs: Mohsin comes into the attack in the death overs. Neesham steers this to third-man for a single. SIX! Short of length, Parag doesn't connect the pull and it lands between the converging fielder at deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs. Length ball into the pads, Parag tucks it to vacant mid-wicket and hares back for the second. Single to end the over.

RR 137/4 in 16 overs: Bishnoi having a far from ideal day. FOUR! Neesham starts off with a boundary in the mid-wicket region. Googly goes down leg-side and Parag misses the flick. RR 130/4 in 15 overs: Krunal continues. FOUR! Neesham reverse-sweeps, and Mohsin lets this between his legs at short fine-leg for four runs. Neesham slips trying to sweep this middle and leg delivery and Krunal appeals desperately for LBW but definitely going down leg.

RR 107/3 in 12 overs: OUT! Badoni strikes. Jaiswal gets a top edge on the sweep and Badoni settles under this skier off his own bowling. Yashasvi Jaiswal c & b Ayush Badoni 41(29b 6x4 1x6). Parag is in and starts off with a single off the pads. Paddikal goes back in his crease and pushes this ball that turns into him to long-on for one more.  A couple of twos to end the over.

RR 101/2 in 11 overs: Jaiswal tucks this length ball from Chameera for a single at square leg. Close! Slower one outside off and Padikkal gets an outside edge trying to dab this to third man and falls just short of the keeper. Dabbed again but finds the short third-man fielder. FOUR! Padikkal steps out and looks to heave this on leg-side but a thick outside edge takes this over extra cover and to the boundary. Rahul chases, gets to it, but cannot parry it back neatly. Short of length and Padikkal swivels and pulls this to fine-leg for a couple. FOUR! Slower one on the pads and turned down behind to the boundary for four more.

RR 90/2 in 10 overs: Stoinis with the ball. Beats Jaiswal's outside edge with a slower one outside off. Single for Jaiswal next ball. He moves to 40 off 26 balls. FOUR! Gently pushed by Padikkal down the ground and Holder misfields at mid-off to allow four runs. SIX! No luck here but sheer talent. Full on leg-stump and Padikkal lifts this with poise and grace for a six down the ground. Could watch this on repeat! FOUR! Short and angling away outside off. Padikkal cuts it through the cover to end with a boundary.

Samson with a lofted cover-drive as Bishnoi goes too full outside off again.

RR 60/1 in 7 overs: Holder is into the attack. Samson starts off with a single. Another slower to Jaiswal on off stump and guided to third for one more. Slower ball number three and Samson tucks it to mid-wicket for a single. Short of a length on leg and Jaiswal hops and tucks it off his hips for the fourth single in four balls this over. FOUR! Dug in by Holder into the pitch and Samson is quick on the pull and dispatches this to the mid-wicket boundary for four runs. Fuller on off and clipped to long-on for a single. Nine runs from the over.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS 51/1 IN 6 OVERS (END OF POWERPLAY)

RR 51/1 in 6 overs: Chameera returns with the ball. FOUR! Width and room outside off and Jaiswal slices this behind point for a boundary. He hacks across the line next ball, it goes high in the air and stays aerial for a long time and lands in vacant area at deep mid wicket for a couple. FOUR and NO-BALL! Low full toss and Jaiswal finds the deep point boundary to make it five runs off this ball as it is a no-ball for overstepping. The free-hit is a dot as Jaiswal shuffles across outside leg, Chameera follows and Jaiswal can only dig out this yorker to mid-off. FOUR! Short on leg and Jaiswal pulls this to the fine-leg boundary. SIX! Just a touch short of a length on off stump and the ball pings off the willow of Jaiswal with a cracking sound as the pull is executed to perfection over mid-wicket.

RR 30/1 in 5 overs: Avesh continues. Two dot balls to start with. The second one cuts Jaiswal in half and the ball nips in sharply from a hard length, leading to even de Kock misreading the trajectory behind the stumps. FOUR! Jaiswal responds in style. Shuffles wide outside leg stump, Avesh follows him and the batter still manages to thump this over the bowler for four runs. Dropped! Straying on leg-side on the pads, Jaiswal pulls this straight to fine-leg but Mohsin floors this chance. Two more dots to end the over.

RR 25/1 in 4 overs: FOUR! Mohsin back into the attack. Replaces Chameera. FOUR! Goes across to Samson and the latter edges this wide of slip for a boundary to third-man area. Fuller on the stump and Samson drives straight to mid-on. FOUR! A bit fuller outside off and Samson sends this racing through covers with a cracking slash.

RR 16/1 in 3 overs: Avesh into the attack. Full, angling in to Buttler, and he drives it back to the bowler. OUT! Avesh strikes and it is the big man Buttler. He shuffles across his stumps to lap this one. But it is too full and Buttler misses as the off-stump goes cart-wheeling away. Jos Buttler b Avesh Khan 2(6b).FOUR! Jaiswal gets an inside edge onto his pads off this length ball angling across on off stump. Another length ball, going further across off stump and dabbed to third for a single. Beaten! Short of length, nipping in from fourth stump, and Buttler is beaten trying to push it off the backfoot. Slightly fuller, angling into the pads and driven to mid-off. Buttler pushes thorough mid-off for a single and keeps strike.

RR 8/0 in 1 over: Length ball first up outside off and Jaiswal cuts straight to backward point. More width outside off and slashed again to the fielder behind point. Mohsin swings this away and Jaiswal swings and misses. Four dots to start. FOUR! A touch too full outside off and Jaiswal drives the through covers for a boundary. FOUR! Two in two. This one is a loose length ball drifting on the pads and pulled away to the fine leg fence.

19:27 IST: LSG is in a huddle and the umpires have walked out. Rahul pepping his boys up. Big game for RR. Not so much for LSG - but a win today will seal a top-two finish for Lucknow. Mohsin will open the bowling.

MATCH PREVIEW

One team is an  IPL  newbie. The other is a four-time champion. One has already qualified for the playoffs. The other has been eliminated from the race to the last four. On paper and form, the IPL 2022 match between  Gujarat Titans  and  Chennai Super Kings  at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday looks like a mismatch.

But the Titans will feel this game represents an excellent chance to test their bench strength and iron out the wrinkles if any. For CSK, it's about which Super Kings team will turn up - the  Delhi Capitals-dominating one , with all three departments in perfect harmony, or the one that slumped to its second-lowest IPL total  in the very next match  and lost by five wickets to the Mumbai Indians?

Titans have been phenomenal in Powerplay. They've picked up 24 wickets (first place) at an economy rate (ER) of 7.45 (second best). Mohammed Shami's 10 wickets inside the first six at an ER of 6.12 will keep the CSK top-order on its toes, especially after it was disintegrated by the Mumbai seamers and reduced to 32 for 5 in the Powerplay.

Rashid v Conway

Rashid Khan vs Devon Conway could be a very important duel too if the latter can survive the initial pace burst. Conway has the best strike-rate vs spin (196.5) in IPL-15 among all batters, with a minimum of 100-plus runs against spin bowling.

In 12 matches so far, Rashid has 15 wickets at an ER of 6.79. However, in the two matches at the Wankhede this year, Rashid has just one wicket while conceding 72 runs at an ER of 9.00. Now, Rashid could look to bowl on the fuller side of a good length to Conway to give him less time to adjust off the pitch. But Conway's horizontal bat shots — sweep and reverse sweep — and ability to also step out to spinners should hold him in good stead.

Rashid and debutant R. Sai Kishore had combined figures of 6 for 31 in Titans' 62-run win vs Lucknow Super Giants in the last match. Between overs 7 and 16, CSK scores at 8.58rpo (third best), so the Titans spin duo will have its job cut out. Rashid has a distinct advantage over one of the three CSK middle-order batters. He has got Moeen Ali out three times in four innings while going for just 36 in 26 balls.

In Ruturaj Gaikwad and Conway, CSK has a robust opening pair. The two have one half-century and two century stands in just five innings.

In the bowling department, Mukesh Choudhary has been a revelation with the new ball. His match-up with Gujarat's top-order will set the tone. At the Wankhede this year, pace has trumped spin with fast bowlers picking 118 wickets and spinners only 53; that should prop him up.

Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu created a stir on match eve after deleting a tweet where he had said IPL 2022 would be his final season. It was later learned that the  CSK brains trust spoke to Rayudu , who then took down the tweet.

All said and done, the Super Kings will believe the travails of this season herald an imminent new dawn. After all, the lows of 2020 gave way to a fourth IPL title for CSK last year.

As for the Titans, the sprint to the finish starts now.
