This Indian Premier League (IPL) season has given glimpses of a second coming of M. S. Dhoni. After having passed on the baton of Indian captaincy to protégé Virat Kohli, Dhoni, compared to his lofty standards, has looked off-colour in phases with the bat. With the return of Chennai Super Kings to the IPL, though, Dhoni has shown his prowess of old.
So, for once, when he is pitted against perennial run-machine Kohli, there would be nothing to choose between the two. Dhoni, fourth in the list of leading run-getters, with 329 runs, is 20 runs behind Kohli, who is third. However, Dhoni outdoes his rival when analysed via the strike-rate. With a strike-rate of 169.58, Dhoni is considerably ahead of Kohli (138.49).
Spotlight is sure to be on the two when Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore play in Pune on Saturday.
