England thumped USA by 10 wickets in Barbados on Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Here is how the points table looks for Group two of Super Eights.

With USA knocked out after the reverse, the other qualifier from the second group will be one of South Africa (SA) or West Indies (WI).

Sportstar takes you through what the teams need to do to qualify for the knockouts of the competition.

SOUTH AFRICA (Points: 4; NRR: +0.625)

South Africa won its opening two games against USA and England and was the favourite to advance to the next round before Sunday’s result.

However, such is its predicament now, courtesy of the massive Net Run Rate (NRR) boost for England, that it needs to win against WI to qualify. If it loses, it will be knocked out.

WEST INDIES (Points: 2; NRR: +1.814)

West Indies registered a massive jump in its NRR after it shot down the target of 129 against USA inside 11 overs. If it wins against SA on Monday, it will qualify for the semifinals courtesy of its healthy NRR.

Further, it needs to win by 52 runs or more to surpass England’s NRR and finish in the top spot, thus avoiding India in the semifinals. A loss will mean an exit for the host nation.
