Indian speedster Varun Aaron failed to come up with a match-winning performance with the ball, as Leicestershire succumbed to a nine-wicket defeat to Lancashire in the Royals London One-Day Cup tie at the Oakham School Ground on Thursday.

Electing to bowl the Lancashire bowlers did a phenomenal job, bundling Leicestershire for mere 172 in 49 overs, as Matthew Parkinson claimed four for 30.

In reply, the host's top-order did a terrific job with the bat, as it was skipper Liam Livingstone's unbeaten 90, along with Haseeb Hameed's 55, that ensured an easy win within just 26 overs. India's Aaron finished with figures of none for 16.

With this win, Lancashire rises to the fifth spot in the North Group table, while Leicestershire continues to lurk at the bottom of the table, in the ninth spot. Leicestershire travels to Birmingham on Sunday to play Warwickshire.
