Aryan Club stunned Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the Calcutta Football League Premier Division ‘A’ at the Kalyani Stadium on Thursday. In another match, East Bengal recovered from its loss to Peerless to beat Kalighat Milan Sangha 4-2.
Following a goalless first period, Aryan secured the lead through Gatch’s 63rd minute strike. Aryan intensified the attack and Sandeep Oraw scored off a free-kick in the 80th minute to double the lead.
Bagan had a consolation goal in the 90th minute, when Subho Ghosh’s header found the net, but could not avoid its second loss.
EB rode on Santos Colado’s brace to rally and defeat Kalighat.
Tuhin Sikdar’s left-footer put Kalighat ahead in the 37th minute, but Bidyashagar Singh equalised four minutes later.
Tuhin Das’ own goal gave EB an upper hand before Colado’s deflection made it 3-1.
Rahul Paswan’s powerful shot reduced the margin, but Colado utilised Bidyashagar’s pass to complete his brace and ensure EB’s win.
After playing seven matches each, EB is at third place with 13 points, while Bagan is at fifth with 11 points.
