I agree they were the better team in the first half, Not really sure how theier keeper was still on the pitch after the foul.

Atleast we can see some positive signs (in our side). We had quite a few friendly game before hand and we are still trying to plant ourselves and I;m sure the fans got to see how we are planning to go ahead this season.

Hero of the match: Edu Bedia for his brilliant last minute winner and well as his significant midfield presence in the match.

An early goal by Brandon Fernandes and an injury time stunner by Edu Bedia was enough to seal FC Goa’s first win of the season, in its opening game.

Edu Bedia’s loopy free kick sees nobody get a touch as the ball beats Kamaljit to enter the net, giving Goa the winning goal in the last minute of added time.

Constantine’s side has nine men in their half as they look desperate to deny a goal to the opposition. The chance arrives for Goa as Bedia’s long ball is headed in by Sadadouim but it is off-target

Chote gets the ball into the East Bengal box with a cross from the right, but Ivan clearss for a corner kick. The corner, first cleared is again shot on target by the Gaurs as Kamaljit makes a regulation save to deny the winner to Goa

Edu Bedia takes the free kick with a left-footed curler which is just off target, while Pena makes another change with Devendra replacing Brandon Fernandes.

Iker akes a run from the midfield, cuts in to his left, but Ivan pulls his shirt as Goa gets a free kick close to the box and the former Goa defender gets into the book.

Goa’s wing play, this time originates from the other end as Chote’s cross for Iker is intercepted for a FC corner. However, the corer is eventually cleared.

Edu Bedia’s corner kick, which looked like curling into the net, is kept out by a good save by the EB keeper Kamaljit.

Vazquez takes a shot from outside the box which, after a deflection off Sarthak goes out for a corner kick. The kick, hit for Iker is finally cleared for a Goa throw-in.

Iker is pulled down while making a turn with the ball and Edu Bedia steps up to take the free kick. It is eventually cleared by the East Bengal defence

Every forward pass, be it one from Suhair on the left or Naorem on the right, is being cheered by the home fans.

Naorem has put his foot on the gas and his shot is cleared and again, after the ball is sent back to him on the left, he crosses to his right, in the penalty box. This time Sarthak goes down, claiming a penalty, but the referee is not interested.

Constantine makes two changes with Naorem and Sarthak replacing Tuhin Das and Sumit Passi. Another 45 minutes for Goa to secure three points, or EB to equalise and fight for a win.

At the halfway mark, it is Brandon’s early goal that keeps the Gaurs ahead against East Bengal in this Indian Super League match.

Edu Bedia takes the corner kick, which sails into the net, but Kamaljit is there to catch the ball and deny the second goal to FC Goa.

Vazquez receives the long ball magnificently, enters the box and shoots with his right foot. But Kamaljit makes a fingertip save to deny the Spaniard his first competitive goal in Goa colours.

O’Doherty’s left-footed curler from the corner is first cleared for anotehr one and on the second attempt, the ball is headed out of the box by Pena’s side.

Cleiton tries to get to the ball in the penalty box and is brought down by Aiban Dihling and the EB players remonsrate for a spot kick. The referee, however, gives a free kick inches outside the box

East Bengal attacks on the countet with Alex carrying the ball in the opposition half and then pasisng to Cleiton, who delays to shoot and is brought down in the box. But the referee does not give the foul as the ball was already out of play.

It is a tsumami of attacks along the flanks by FC Goa, with Vazquez ensuring the progression of play and Tlang, earns a corner which is cleared and now EB is out on an attack on the counter

East Bnegal carries the ball along the left flank, but after a Goa clearance, Lima shoots from outside the box, which is deflected outfor a corner kick. But the corner, taken by Lima does not reach anybody and Goa gets a throw-in instead

The Indian Super League match is underway at the Salt Lake Stadium. East Bengal starts from left to right, while the visitor starts from the other side.

Kolkata, which had heavy rains hours before the match, finally has the rains reduced to mere drizzles in patches. Fans continue to make their way into the stadium with the kick off set at 7:30 pm.

“It’s going to be a great challenge to play in front of a fully packed stadium, we’re trying to enjoy it, and it will be special for us. We would have loved to begin our campaign in front of our home fans, but the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata is also a good venue to kick-start things.”

East Bengal will be looking to steal at least a point from FC Goa when it makes its first outing at home in the Indian Super League (ISL), at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday.

Former Indian coach and the current East Bengal gaffer, Stephen Constantine will be keen to get the points after a dismal performance against Kerala Blasters. , which it visited last Friday.

“We will get better every week. The players are working hard. I am very happy with the atmosphere in the team. We have six solid foreign players and a group of Indian players who have something to prove. Hopefully, we can grab the three points from FC Goa and move forward,” Constantine said on the eve of the match.

East Bengal, which had finished at the bottom of the table in the previous season, is hoping to better its performance under a new investor, Emami, and the new head coach in Constantine.

The two-time runner-up FC Goa would be eager to put the frustration of the previous season behind and start with a win under new Spanish coach Carlos Pena.

“It’s going to be a great challenge to play in front of a fully packed stadium, we’re trying to enjoy it, and it will be special for us. We would have loved to begin our campaign in front of our home fans, but the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata is also a good venue to kick-start things,” Pena said.

Unlike East Bengal, which is playing its third ISL season, FC Goa is a side that reached the playoffs six times out of eight editions in the League’s history. The team floundered last season and was forced to do an overhaul of the squad under the charge of Pena.

East Bengal is also in a rebuilding mode under its English coach in Constantine, who has requested the fans to have patience as he looks to bring stability in his team. “I would do everything I can to restore East Bengal’s pride. But I can’t do this in four-five weeks. It will take time. I want the fans to support us,” he said.

“If the fans are patient, I will give them what they deserve in the end. What I can promise is that I will work 48 hours a day to make things right but it takes time. If we are impatient and we want miracles to happen, then we will have a problem,” Constantine added.
