Anirban Lahiri couldn't repeat his performance from last year.

Anirban Lahiri failed to recreate his performance in 2015 and exited midway through the 98th PGA Championships as he carded a second successive three-over 73 at the Baltusrol Golf Club here.

At six-over 146, he missed the cut by four shots. Last year, the 29-year-old was tied-fifth for the best ever finish by an Indian at any Major. Lahiri’s hopes of a fast start suffered a setback with a bogey on first and on fourth.

He, then, was trying to catch up. Two more bogeys on 11th and 12th virtually ended his hopes and the lone birdie of the day on 18th was a mere consolation as he ended at six-over and way off the cut mark of two-over.

Among the big names who missed the cut were Rory McIlroy, Y. E. Yang, Graeme McDowell and European Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke.

Lahiri will next be seen in action at the Rio Olympics, starting August 5.
