Parvesh Bhainswal produced a terrific defensive performance as Gujarat Fortunegiants defeated UP Yoddha 44-19 in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 7 match here on Friday. With two wins from as many games, Gujarat Fortunegiants now is atop the points table.
Bhainswal scored six tackle points, while young Sumit, who made his debut on Friday, also impressed for the Gujarat Fortunegiants. Rohit Gulia completed a Super 10 and led the raiding charge for the men in red and yellow.
UP Yoddha’s inexperienced backline had a forgettable night as it scored just five tackle points. Raider Monu Goyat also struggled to pick points and earned just two bonus points and spent a lot of time off court.

Sachin Tanwar picked up a couple of raid points to give Gujarat Fortunegiants a 3-1 lead after three minutes. UP Yoddha clawed back to level the match at 4-4 after five minutes but after that it was all Gujarat Fortunegiants.
Sachin, who reached the 300-point landmark in PKL, made a two-point raid to further Gujarat’s advantage. In the 11th minute Gujarat Fortunegiants inflicted the first all out of the match with a lead of 12-5.
At the end of the first half, the score was 19-9 in favour of Gujarat Fortunegiants, which began the second half in fine fashion as it inflicted another all out in the 21st minute to lead 24-9.
Bhainswal immediately put the pressure back on Yoddha as he sent Goyat back to the bench once again. Bhainswal was in superb form and showed immense strength and made three successive tackles to give Gujarat Fortunegiants a 31-13 lead after 30 minutes.
UP Yoddha was all-out for a third time in the match with a little over three minutes remaining. Sonu Janglan who came on as a substitute and made a super raid in the last minute to complete Gujarat’s dominance.
Patna piles up more misery on the Telugu Titans
Patna Pirates beats Telugu Titans 34-22 in the final game of the Hyderabad leg of PKL season 7. With this loss, the Telugu Titans ended its home leg winless after four games.
Patna Pirates surged to a 4-0 lead within two minutes of the first half as Telugu Titans was reduced to three men. However, Titans skipper Vishal Bhardwaj capitalised on the super tackle opportunity to reduce the deficit to two.
After a brief period of exchange of points between the sides, it was the team from Patna which inflicted the first all-out on the home team.
The match had a number of empty raids as both the teams tried to capitalise on the do-or-die raid. In the process, 'Dubki-king' Pardeep Narwal completed 100 do-or-die raids points in PKL and the Telugu Titans was all-out for the second time in the first 20 minutes.
The second half was underway with Patna leading 23-9. Pardeep, who had seven raid points in the first half, couldn't muster a single point in the next 20 minutes as he was successfully tackled five times.
In spite of their captain and lead raider misfiring, the Patna defenders stuck to the basics and gave the Telugu Titans no chances of making a comeback. The experienced Patna defender Jaideep registered his 10th career PKL high-five as the Telugu Titans ended its home-leg with no wins.
