How do both the teams shape up today?
U Mumba: In the last match, U Mumba was given a run for its money against a better-looking Tamil Thalaivas. Mumba only scored its first tackle point of the match in the 17th minutes of the match, which said a lot about its performance. In the entire match, the defenders only scored five points of the total 36.
Once again, it was U Mumba's raiders that came to the team's rescue and saved them the blushes. Abhishek Singh notched up his fourth consecutive Super-10 and Athul MS played a good hand too.
Tonight, U Mumba cannot afford to make the same mistake as it will be up against Pardeep Narwal, who is known for dismantling the entire opposition on his own. U Mumba will seal a playoff berth with a victory today and to ensure that , the defenders in Fazel Atrachali, Surinder Singh and Sandeep Narwal will have to click. The three, especially Sandeep, have been guilty to giving free points with advanced tackles and they cannot afford to do that tonight. Abhishek Singh, once again, will lead the raiding department with support from Athul MS.
Patna Pirates: The three-time champion have crashed out of the playoff race and will play for pride tonight. Apart from Pardeep Narwal, nobody else has been consistent. PARDEEP NARWAL HAS SCORED A WHOPPING 157 POINTS FROM THE LAST NINE GAMES WITH NINE CONSECUTIVE SUPER-10s. This just goes to show how dependent the team has been on the 'Record-breaker'.
The whole season has followed suit. The longer he spends on the bench, the higher are the opposition's chances of winning. So, secondary raiders in Jang Kun Lee and Esmaeil Maghsoudlou will have to do well to make sure he is revived on time. The former, however, has scored 21 point in three matches and the Korean would look to keep up the good run.
The defence still looks harmless. Neeraj Kumar had one game where he scored 11 tackle points and equalled the PKL record of most tackle points in a match but apart from that, he hasn't done considerable damage. Hadi Oshtorak in the right corner has been good and he would hope to receive good support from Jaideep and Neeraj.
