Gaayathri Nithyanandam shot 458.3 to beat Lajja Gauswami by 3.4 points in the women’s rifle 3-position event in the third set of the National selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Thursday.
With the cream of India’s shooters busy participating in the Commonwealth Games, the rest sharpened their focus to enter the national teams for the latter part of the season. It would be an eventful season that includes the World Championship and the Asian Games.

In men’s rifle 3-position event, Swapnil Kusale prevailed ahead of Parul Kumar and Satyendra Singh.
Rahi Sarnobat, the World Cup gold medallist and one of the four gold medallists of the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, outclassed Anisa Sayyed 40-32 in women’s sports pistol, after having qualified with a score of 582.
