Egyptians Fares Dessouky and Mohamed Abouelghar gave a top-class exhibition of squash at the all-glass court Thunderdome installed at the Brabourne Stadium lawns, but the top seed Dessouky won the 70-minute five-game thriller 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-5 in the final of the $ 50,000 Cricket Club of India (CCI) International Challenge JSW Indian Squash Circuit 2016.

Recently Dessouky was part of the six Egyptian players who, for the first time in the 40-year-old PSA Men's World Squash Championship, took six quarterfinal places in the world event at Cairo.

The other five were Ramy Ashour, Tarek Momen, Mohamed Elshorbagy, Karim Abdel Gawad and Ali Farag. It was Dessouky’s first PSA title win in two years and his compatriot made him sweat for it.
