World number three Tarek Momen proved to be an unsurmountable hurdle for Saurav Ghosal.

India's top-ranked men's squash player Saurav Ghosal went down in four games to world number three Tarek Momen of Egypt in a quarterfinal match late on Friday in the Grasshopper cup tournament, a PSA Gold event being held in Zurich.

Momen proved an insurmountable hurdle, beating Ghosal 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 14-12.

The eighth seed Indian, an experienced campaigner now, drove an initial scare into his opponent by snatching the first game.

The Egyptian acknowledged that dent made him work harder to turn the tempo around but Saurav once again fought his way to the last in the fourth game before going down on extra points.

The 68 minute-match was the longest among the quarterfinal matches.
