Zverev loses quarters to Goffin at Halle; Tsitsipas eliminated at Queen's

Home favorite Alexander Zverev lost his quarterfinal match at Halle, Germany to Belgium's David Goffin 6-3, 1-6, (3)6-7 on Friday.

Zverev, ranked world no 5, struggled due to a swollen knee -- an injury he suffered during his first round match. The German served nine double faults and saved two match points, but ultimately lost the tiebreaker.

It is a second straight exit on grass for the 22-year old who was ousted by compatriot Dustin Brown in the Stuttgart Open.

In the other last eight clash, Matteo Berrettini beat third seed Karen Khachanov 6-2, 7-6(4) to set the semis clash with David Goffin.

Defending champion Borna Coric retired midway through his last eight match against face Pierre-Hugues Herbert after the first set was won by Herbert 7-5.  The Frenchman will face Roger Federer of Roberto Bautista Agut in the semifinals.

Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas suffered a straight set 5-7, 2-6 defeat against eight seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinal of the Queen's club championship on Friday.

Daniil Medvedev ousted Diego Schwartzman in a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win to set up semis clash with Gilles Simon who beat Nicolas Mahut 7-6(5), 5-7, 7-6(3) in a thrilling last eight encounter in London.

Feliciano Lopez will go up against French Open finalist Milos Raonic for a place in the semifinal.
