Ajay Singh beat Monil Rohit Lotlikar 6-2, 7-6(5) to set a semifinal, against top seed Udit Gogoi, in the Road to Wimbledon, under-14, boys, tennis tournament, on the grass courts of the Delhi Gymkhana Club, here, on Thursday.
The other semifinal will feature Aman Dahiya against Chirag Duhan. Ajay Singh finished with an undefeated record, from pool-D, as he topped ahead of fourth seed Vishesh Jainish Patel.
Ajay’s victory helped Sukhpreet Jhoje make the knock-out phase, but he ran into Udit Gogoi. With the boys scheduled to compete in the World Junior Cup under-14 tournament, in Bangkok, the organisers have speeded up the event here, with two rounds on Thursday and Friday.
Thus, the semifinals and final will be played on Friday. The top two players from the tournament will qualify for the UK under-14 championship, to be played in Wimbledon, in August. Sanjana Sirimalla and Renne Singla have already earned the two spots, for the girls, in the event, held in Kolkata, last week.
