Sumit Nagal bows out in Santo Domingo

Sumit Nagal’s fine run on clay came to a halt as he retired early in the third set of the second round match in the Challenger tournament in Santo Domingo.

Sumit Nagal’s fine run on clay came to a halt as he retired early in the third set of the second round match against Alejandro Tabilo of Chile in the $162,480 Challenger tennis tournament in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The 22-year-old Sumit had done very well to win the title and reach the semifinals of the last two tournaments on clay.

In the Challenger in France, Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten in straight sets by Dennis Novak of Austria in the second round.

In the $25,000 ITF women’s event in Lagos, Nigeria, newly crowned national champion Sowjanya Bavisetti, Sathwika Sama, Rutuja Bhosale and Riya Bhatia moved into the pre-quarterfinals.
