Taekwondo: India’s Navjeet Maan crashes out

Loses to China’s Linglong Chen 20-6 in the pre-quarterfinals.

Indian men’s campaign in taekwondo ended with Navjeet Maan’s loss in the pre-quarterfinals of the 80kg category here on Wednesday. Maan went down to China’s Linglong Chen 20-6.

Maan trailed Chen 6-0 in the first round before the Indian managed to open his account in the second round. However, the Chinese made a strong comeback, scoring eight points to take a 15-5 overall lead in the match. Chen then sealed the contest, blanking Maan 5-1 in the third round.

En route to the pre-quarterfinals, Maan had defeated Somsanouk Phommavanh of Lao 32-18.
