Sindhu, Srikanth bow out of French Open

P. V. Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth lost in straight games at the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.

P. V. Sindhu bowed out of the French Open with a 13-21, 16-21 loss to world No. 7 He Bingjiao.

Sindhu made a strong start to the first game, but her Chinese opponent was quick to take control of the game, which she won 21-13 and followed it up by winning the second game 16-21.

She got the job done in 40 minutes and progressed to the semifinals of the French Open, where she will face Japanese Akane Yamaguchi.

On the men's side, Kidambi Srikanth also went down in straight games to Japanese Kento Momota, who won 21-16 21-19. Momota will face China's Chen Long in the last-four.

Saina Nehwal also lost in straight games to Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying earlier on Friday.
