A day after being named the captain of India A for the Deodhar Trophy, star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the tournament due to a niggle.

A day after being named the captain of India A for the Deodhar Trophy, star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the tournament due to a niggle. In a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it was stated that the Board's medical team has advised the spinner a week’s rest, and as a result, he would be missing out on the tournament, which will be played in Dharamsala from Sunday.

In Ashwin's absence, Shahbaz Nadeem has been brought in as a replacement. The national selectors have named Ankit Bawne as captain of the India A team and suggested that Akshdeep Nath will move to India B squad to facilitate the change.
