Former Team India captain M.S. Dhoni's wife Sakshi has applied for arms licence. Sources said the application was put in around 15 days ago. She has sought the licence stating that she moves around alone for work and it would be safer for her to carry a weapon, according to the sources.

Ranchi Police could not be immediately reached for comment. The local police provide security to the Dhonis with eight armed guards. They also get protection when they are travelling in the city. The reports quoted unnamed officials as saying Sakshi's application was nothing out of the ordinary and due process would be followed. The Dhonis have a farmhouse on the city's periphery.
