Karnataka escaped defeat by the skin of its teeth, and forced a dramatic draw in a Ranji Trophy Group 'A' fixture against Haryana here on Sunday.
At 192 for eight, and a little more than eight overs of play left, the home side was in desperate trouble. The injured Manish Pandey - he had suffered a cut to his right index finger earlier in the match - was called into action. Pandey (2 n.o., 26b) took Karnataka to safety, in the company of the equally stubborn David Mathis (9 n.o., 32b). With next-in H.S. Sharath also facing injury concerns, this was, in effect, a last-wicket stand.
The three points gained gives Haryana a total of four points, while Karnataka has eight points.
