Bengal will aspire to get a strong start in its opening match against Services in the Ranji Trophy cricket which starts at the Palam ground here on Friday.

With a string of players who represent the country in its ranks, Bengal will look to tame the placid conditions with its varied bowling attack.

Skipper Manoj Tiwary, Sudip Chatterjee, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha will be the key to the team’s attempt to march towards the trophy, and speedster Mohammed Shami is expected to pep up the bowling and give it a menacing look.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has also been shaping up well in recent times, and could play a significant role in strengthening the stakes for Bengal.

Services will be playing at home and thus would be more familiar with the conditions. The team may not have many familiar names but will not be found wanting when it comes to fighting it out. Obviously, it will look for a good start to place better than last time, when every team played in neutral venues and many more matches.
