Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of being the quickest to 11,000 ODI runs. The India captain took 222 innings to reach the milestone.

Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of being the quickest to 11,000 ODI runs. Heading into the high-octane clash against Pakistan on Sunday at the World Cup, Kohli needed 57 runs to reach the milestone.

Kohli took 222 innings to reach the 11k club while Tendulkar needed 276 innings. Moreover, the India captain has joined the elite club by becoming the third Indian and ninth player overall.

India has started off its World Cup campaign with two wins against South Africa, Australia and the third game against New Zealand being a wash out without a ball being bowled.

In the game against the Proteas, Kohli scored 18 and got his touch back in India's game against Australia with a 77-ball 82.
