ICC finds no evidence of corruption in Perth Ashes Test

Following an investigation, the ICC says there is no evidence the third Ashes Test between Australia and England was corrupted.

The ICC has found no evidence of corruption regarding the third Ashes Test between Australia and England in Perth in December.

In the build-up to the match at the WACA, which the hosts won by an innings and 41 runs to regain the urn, The Sun newspaper alleged its undercover reporters had been offered the opportunity to purchase details of supposed rigged periods of play.

The ICC subsequently released a statement promising to investigate the matter, with the body's Anti-Corruption Unit looking into the case.

Two months later, the ICC announced the end of its investigation, which produced nothing to suggest any illegal activity had taken place.

"We have carried out an extensive global investigation with anti-corruption colleagues from Member countries based on the allegations in The Sun and the material they shared with us," said ICC General Manager of Anti-Corruption Alex Marshall.

"I am satisfied that there is no evidence to suggest any match has been corrupted by the individuals in the investigation nor is there any indication that any international players, administrators or coaches have been in contact with the alleged fixers."
