It is official. After rounds of speculations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially cleared the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur to host the home games of Rajasthan Royals.
Speaking at the IPL auctions, BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said that decks have been cleared for Jaipur to play host to RR this time. "There were two impediments over RCA and the ground in Jaipur. Now, RCA is back into the fold. A recce has been done at the SMS and it has been decided that the termination of the lease will extend till the IPL end. Things looks settled for Jaipur," Chaudhary said.
Sportstarwas first to report about such a possibility in December and on Friday, Rajasthan Royals co-owner, Manoj Badale, told this publication that the franchise was happy to return to Jaipur . “It would be fantastic to return to our home ground (in Jaipur), and give the fans of Rajasthan some cricket to watch,” Badale said.
Royals last played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in 2013 after which it had to shift base to Ahmedabad (and later to Pune) due to the suspension on the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
Now, with the BCCI lifting the suspension on the RCA, Royals would be hoping to return home with a bang.
