Having played for Rajasthan Royals from 2011 to 2014, Dishant Yagnik(left) knows the set-up quite well.

A few days back when Dishant Yagnik attended Rajasthan Royals’ camp in Jaipur, it led to speculations over his association with the franchise.

Now, Sportstar has learnt from reliable sources that Royals has decided to rope in Yagnik as its fielding coach.

A formal announcement is likely to be made on Wednesday after Yagnik signs the dotted lines.

Having played for Rajasthan Royals from 2011 to 2014, the 34-year-old knows the set-up quite well; it is a sort of homecoming.

Yagnik was a part of the camp as fielding coach and his performance impressed the think tank.

While it will have Shane Warne as its mentor, the side has Zubin Bharucha as the cricket director. Last month, it also brought in Sairaj Bahutule and Amol Muzumdar as spin bowling coach and batting coach respectively.

And now, with the Rajasthan-based Yagnik joining the side, Royals will also have a local flavour in its coaching line-up.

Yagnik had retired from all formats of the game last year, ending his 14-year stint with the state team of Rajasthan.

Both Yagnik and the Royals, however, remained tight-lipped on the development.
