Masih Saighani will join Lucian Goian in Chennaiyin's defence.

Chennaiyin FC signed central defender Masih Saighani on Monday as the Afghan player joined moved from Bangladesh club Abahani Dhaka.

Saighani, who can be deployed as a central defensive midfielder or central defender, has previous experience of playing in India, having represented Aizawl FC in the 2017 season of I-League.

“It will be an honour to play for Chennaiyin FC, head coach John Gregory and the club’s fantastic supporters. Chennaiyin and the Indian Super League have always impressed me and I am excited to participate in the tournament," said Saighani.

Speaking of Saighani's signing, head coach John Gregory said: “Masih (Saighani) is an experienced player who ticks all the boxes for us. He has an imposing physical presence, is lethal in the air and is extremely comfortable on the ball. He can contribute defensively and build up play going forward as well."

Saighani becomes Chennaiyin's latest signing after centre-back Lucian Goian joined a few days ago.
