Tottenham's Harry Kane reached the 100-goal mark in the Premier League — ahead of Sergio Aguero (147), Thierry Henry (160), Ian Wright (173), Robbie Fowler (175) — in just 141 appearnces. Only Alan Shearer, who achieved the milestone in 127 appearances, sits ahead of him.
He reached this landmark on Sunday (February 4), when, with the stakes incredibly high and his team 1-2 down courtesy a brace from Mohamed Salah, he converted a spot kick won by Erik Lamela deep into stoppage time.
None a bigger admirer than his own manager, Kane was hailed by Mauricio Pochettino for his personality to not shy away from the responsibility of taking the penalty after having missed his first on the evening. "He is one of the best strikers. He can miss a penalty or a chance, but the personality to score 100 Premier League goals is because you have big, big balls," said Pochettino, in awe of his No. 10.
Breakdown
Here's a breakdown of his 100 Premier League goals:
Club-by-club
Leicester City has been Kane's favourite opposition, scoring nine goals in six appearances against it.
Of the top-six clubs, Harry Kane has scored the most goals against North London rival Arsenal (6) and Liverpool (5). The 24-year-old had netted in each of his first five appearances against Arsenal before failing to in his sixth. Manchester United (1) and City (2) have managed to keep him on a tight leash.
Minutes per goal
Kane has managed at least one Premier League goal every 112.5 minutes on the pitch (11255 minutes), boasting one of the impressive goals-per-minute ratios in the Premier League.
Scoring zones
88 of Kane's 100 goals have come from inside the area — 14 of them from the penalty spot — while 12 have been from outside the box, including a direct free kick.
How he scored?
Despite being a right-footed player, 26 of Kane's Premier League goals have been with his unnatural, left foot. 60 have been netted with his favoured right foot and 14 have been headed goals.
A perfect hat-trick, the term given for goals scored with the right foot, left foot and head, remains elusive for Kane.
Unrivalled since league debut
Since making his Premier League debut against Newcastle United back in the 2012-13 season, when Spurs' manager was Andre Villas-Boas, Kane has at least 12 goals more than anyone. City's record goal-scorer Sergio Aguero is Kane's closest rival with 88.
Goals every season
2013-14 was Kane's breakthrough season in a Tottenham shirt when he made 10 appearances and netted three goals.
He became a regular in the Spurs side in the 2014/15 season, since when he has eclipsed the 20-goal mark in every campaign including the ongoing one. 14/15 was the Englishman's first full season and he managed 21 goals, 25, 29 and 22 (so far) have been his returns in the last three seasons.
He has won the Premier League Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons.
