Two goals in the second half from Anthony Wolfe, the striker, helped Churchill Brothers register a 2-0 win over Minerva Punjab in an I-League contest at Vasco Da Gama, Goa, on Saturday.
The contest suffered a dull beginning. Its tempo changed after the 35th minute, when Minerva Punjab replaced Hitova Ayemi with Yu Koboki. Koboki initiated a couple of quick attacks towards the end of the first half. In the 44th minute, he was set up by midfielder Akash Sangwan inside the box but was crowded out, before Churchill Brothers’ goalkeeper James Kithan collected the ball.

Wolfe was brought in 10 minutes after the second half began. He put his team ahead in the 61st minute, and consolidated its position by converting a penalty — he slotted the ball to the left of the goalkeeper Bhaskar Roy — in the 84th minute.
The win takes Churchill Brothers to the third spot in the points table. With a tally of 19 points, it is one point ahead of Real Kashmir, having played a game more. Real Kashmir can reclaim the third position if it defeats Mohun Bagan in Kolkata on Sunday.
With two points collected from its last four matches, Minerva Punjab, on the other hand, languishes in the seventh position.
