Bengaluru FC will look to move a step closer to the knockouts when it takes on New Radiant SC in a Group E fixture of the AFC Cup at the National Stadium here on Wednesday.

New Radiant is only three points behind BFC - currently at the top of the table with nine points - which has three wins from as many games.

The visitor will, however, not have head-coach Albert Roca on the touchline as the Spaniard is serving a one-game suspension after he was sent off during the reverse fixture. Goalkeeping coach Eduardo Gasol will take charge instead.

“We do have a good record against teams from the Maldives away from home, but most of the games have been close,” said Gasol. “Against TC Sports Club, we came away with a narrow 3-2 win; even against Maziya the season before, we scored in the final minute. Tomorrow is going to be tough.”

Earlier this month, Nishu Kumar’s injury-time winner gave BFC three points against New Radiant at home.

BFC, which arrives in the Maldives fresh off a title win in the Super Cup – where the side scored 13 goals in four games - will be without star striker Miku, who is not part of the squad.

Roca has relied on his youngsters to get the job done in the AFC Cup this season, but with the Indian Super League and Super Cup now out of the way, the Spaniard could be tempted to throw in a few big names.
