Sethu FC beat Gokulam Kerala FC 2-0 in the Hero Indian Women’s League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Thursday.
Sabina Khatun from Bangladesh drew first blood in the 17 minute; Fazila and Sanathopki couldn’t match up to her pace.
Manisha confirmed the victory by doubling the lead in the dying minutes as she pounced on to Sabina’s ball.
Gokulam had an upper hand in the opening few minutes. Fazila had a go at the net, but her shot was blocked. Later, she also tracked Subitha in the clear, but the latter lost control.
In the second half, Fazila forced a save off Sowmiya in the 48 minute. But the spark was temporary
Having earned three points in two games, Sethu will now take on Rising Student’s Club on Monday.
Gokulam is yet to open its account.
