Odisha FC coach Josep Gombau to inspect Kalinga stadium

Odisha FC head coach Josep Gombau arrived in Bhubaneswar on Monday to inspect the club's home and practice grounds, ahead of the players' arrival next month.

Head coach of Odisha FC Josep Gombau arrived here on Monday to inspect the condition of the practice ground of the team ahead of the arrival of players early next month. Gombau was accorded a warm welcome when he arrived at the local airport.

During his trip to the city, Gombau will also inspect the newly formed club’s home ground at the Kalinga Stadium which is being readied for the sixth season of Indian Super League (ISL) that begins on October 20.

The head coach will also interact with the Odisha government’s Sports and Youth Services Department officials to finalise the facilities that will be provided to the players of Odisha FC, including accommodation for their families as well as education of their children, according to official sources.

Odisha FC was born when Delhi Dynamos was rechristened following the signing of a long-term agreement between Odisha government and Delhi Soccer Private Limited on August 31.

The 25-member Odisha FC squad, which has two players hailing from Odisha, is in Doha at present.

Odisha FC, which will start its campaign in the Indian Super League, is scheduled to play the first match at its home ground on November 24.

The official logo of Odisha FC was unveiled in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. “Delighted to share the logo of the State's Hero ISL club Odisha FC which pays a heartfelt tribute to Odisha's rich cultural heritage. The club motto of Ama Team Ama Game (Our Team Our Game) is again a proud reminder of the state's rich sporting culture. Wish the team all success,” tweeted Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
