Branden Grace fired his way into a tie for third place at the US PGA Championship through nine holes as leaders Jimmy Walker and Jason Day got their final rounds under way.

The South African, third at Whistling Straits last year, was the major mover among the early players on Sunday, with stormy weather seeing the third round completed earlier in the day.

Grace went blemish-free before the turn, picking up shots at two, four and seven to join Brooks Koepka and Henrik Stenson at nine under.

Shortly after Walker teed off there was a five-way tie for second as Day bogeyed the first on the back of a tee shot that found thick rough. William McGirt also jumped into contention with two birdies in his first four holes.

Walker and Robert Streb were the last pair to go out at 15.16 local time in New Jersey.

A tie for seventh at the PGA Championship two years ago represents Walker's best showing at a major, but he has led after every round at Baltusrol and is looking to become just the PGA Championship's seventh wire-to-wire champion.
