South Africa's Shaun Norris kept pace with India's S.S.P. Chawrasia to share the lead in the second round of the $750,000 Leopalace21 Myanmar Open Friday. Both men carded a 66 in the second day of the tournament, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO) and tipped by organisers as the country's richest sporting event.
Chawrasia has seen a two-day total of 12-under-par 132 at the Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club in Yangon.
"All in all, a good two days and I don't want to tamper with anything and just keep this momentum going," he said.
The three-time Asian Tour winner started the day tied for third, but ran out a series of birdies to climb the leaderboard. Norris, who is yet to drop a shot over two days, matched Chawrasia's efforts, but said the going had been made more difficult by swirling winds.
"They made the approach shots into the greens quite hard to judge. But if you can give yourself good chances, you can take it on from there," he said.
