Free from any pressure Poland inflicted the first defeat on Iran 41-25 in a Group `B’ match of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup at the `Arena by TransStadia’ here on Monday.
Skipper Michal Spiczko scored 12 points. Poland’s unexpected victory against Iran has brightened Thailand’s chances of topping the group should it beat Japan.
Poland has completed the competition with 11 points from five matches. In a Group`A’ match Bangladesh pummeled Australia 80-8, but it can hope for a semi-final berth only in the event of England putting it past India on Tuesday.
