PKL auction, day 2: Prashant Kumar costliest buy at 79 lakhs

Karnataka raider Prashant Kumar Rai, who was picked up by UP Yoddha for a staggering 79 lakhs, remains the most expensive player of the day.

A whopping Rs. 13.40 crore was splurged on domestic players on day one of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) auction 2018.   -  ROHIT JAIN PARAS

As day one unfurled- PKL auction day 1: Goyat, Tomar, Devadiga, Chaudhari breach the 1-crore mark

5:27 PM: Ravinder Kumar - Patna Pirates, Manoj Dhull - Bengal Warriors , Vijay Kumar - Patna Pirates are each signed up for Rs 8 lakh

5:15 PM: Abhinandan Chandel and Mahender Reddy, both Category C players, are sold to Tamil Thalaivas and Telugu Titans for Rs 8 lakh each.

5:13 PM: Sidharth, Category B, is sold to Dabang Delhi for Rs 12 lakh.

5:12 PM: Bengaluru Bulls signs Rahul Lal Choudhary for Rs 8.8 lakh, Ravinder Pahal is sold to Dabang Delhi for Rs 20 lakh.

5:04 PM: Amit Jaivir Sharma, Category C defender, is sold to Gujarat Fortunegiants for Rs 8 lakh, D. Gopu, Category C, is picked up by Tamil Thalaivas for Rs 8 lakh.

5 PM: Amit, Category C defender, is sold to UP Yoddha for Rs 8 lakh

4:31 PM: Raider Anand Surendra Tomar is sold to Haryana Steelers for his base price of Rs 5 lakh.

4:28 PM: Defender Deepak is sold to Telugu Titans for Rs 5 lakh, while the last defender of Category D, Purushotam, goes unsold. We now move on to the raiders in Category D.

4:25 PM: Amit Singh and Anuj Kumar, both defenders, are sold to Haryana Steelers and Telugu Titans respectively for Rs 5 lakh

4:21 PM: Puneri Paltan signs right-cover defender Bajrang for Rs 5 lakh.

4:18 PM: Vishav Chaudhary, left-cover defender, is sold to UP Yoddha for Rs 5 lakh.

4:14 PM: Telugu Titans pick up Armaan and Haryana Steelers sign all-rounder Prateek for Rs 5 lakh each.

A whopping Rs. 13.40 crore was splurged on domestic players on day one of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) auction 2018. The surprise wasn’t that the 100-lakh mark was breached but the number of times it had and players who were bought in excess of 1 crore.

Iranian Fazel became the costliest foreign player. Bengaluru Bulls and Jaipur Pink Panthers were involved in an intense bidding war for Fazel, with U Mumba ultimately bidding Rs.100 lakh and securing him.

On Wednesday at the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre, Haryana Steelers acquired the services of Monu Goyat at Rs. 1.51 crore, making him the most expensive player in PKL history.

Of the 25 Category A players, only Ravinder Pahal went unsold on day one. He will, however, be up for auction on today, when Categories B, C and D will also be up for bidding.
