“I’m really excited to be captain from the start. I’ll definitely be aware of every individual’s mindset — their approach towards their innings, or in their bowling. So, I am looking forward to each and every individual to have a great season and it’s equally important for us to get the best from our preparations for the IPL.
[The Delhi Capitals players] know that they haven’t been doing well and every player is much aware of it. So, we have just got to be believing in ourselves and it’s equally important to enjoy each others’ success — that’s what makes a team peak. We are just going to be consistent in our approach and be insatiable.
I really love the role of captaincy; it makes me mature and responsible. Whenever I go out there, I never think that I’m the captain; I just want to enjoy my innings. I know I have patterned my innings in such a way that I know when to strike the ball and when not to. I know even if I play a few dot balls at the start I can cover it up later on.
Currently my focus is on IPL and winning it.”
