Prashant, Apoorva emerge champions at Carrom World Cup

Prashant More and S. Apoorva won the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the fifth Carrom World Cup.

Prashant More and S. Apoorva won the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the fifth Carrom World Cup which concluded in Chuncheon, Korea, on Tuesday.

Prashant More beat Riyaz Akbar Ali in three games, 25-4, 14-15, 25-13. However, Apoorva proved too strong for Kajal Kumari, the combined Swiss League champion, as she won 25-5, 25-14, recording a white slam on the eighth board in the first set.

The results:

Men (final): Prashant More bt Riyaz Akbar Ali 25-4, 14-25, 25-13; Third place: Zaheer Pasha bt Nishant Fernando (Sri) 17-16, 25-0.

Semifinals: Prashant More bt Zaheer Pasha 25-21, 12-25, 25-11; Riyaz Akbar Ali bt NIshant Fernando (Sri) 25-12, 5-25, 25-11.

Women (final): S Apoorva bt Kajal Kumari 25-5, 25-14; Thid place: Aysha Mohammed bt Rashmi Kumari 10-22, 20-13, 24-15.

Semifinals: S. Apoorva  bt Rashmi Kumari 25-12, 18-25, 25-3; Kajal Kumari bt Aysha Mohammed 25-11, 25-21.
