All India Squash Open: Favourites Pradhan, Urwashi emerge champions

Abhishek Pradhan, who is India No. 5, and Urwashi Joshi, the India No. 2, overpowered their respective rivals Abhishek Agarwal and Navmi Sharma in the finals, played at the suburban Goregaon Sports Club, to emerge triumphant.

Top seeds Abhishek Pradhan and Urwashi Joshi, both from Maharashtra, bagged the men's and 
women's titles, respectively, in the GSC-All India Squash Open that concluded on Friday.

Pradhan, who is India No. 5, and Urwashi, the India No. 2, overpowered their respective rivals in the finals, played at the suburban Goregaon Sports Club, to emerge triumphant.

Pradhan, after a closely fought first game, prevailed over India No. 8 Abhishek Agarwal, 12-10, 11-2, 3-11, 13-11 in the men's title contest.

Urwashi, on the other hand, won the women's summit clash with ease, beating her statemate, Navmi Sharma, in straight games - 12-10, 11-2, 11-7.

The boys' under-19 crown was clinched by Chandigarh's Prithivi Sigh, while the corresponding under-17 title was wrapped up by Maharashtra boy Mohit Bhatt.
