The third leg of the Dreambig UTR tennis tournament will be held at the Lake View Tennis Academy in Hyderabad from September 20 to 22.
According to Tushar Liberhan, a former top junior tennis player who is organising the series, the tournament aims to provide junior tennis players of all levels with level-based competition, with the advantage of the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR).
The tournament, with a registration fee of $60 will offer a minimum of three matches to a player on a league basis. Top performers from the boys and girls events will gain direct entry to the Silver series
tennis camp. It will be a four-day event with a two-day UTR tournament and a two-day camp with tennis coaches from top US Colleges that offer scholarships to talented players.
The Colleges in the US recruit players based on their UTR, which is the world’s only results-based tennis ranking system at all levels. Rian Pandole, who is part of the Columbia tennis team, and Nandini
Sharma with the University of Central Florida, are the highest-ranked Indian players in the US Collegiate circuit with 13.18 and 10.57 UTR scores respectively.
"We are planning to host UTR tournaments across India in tier-1 cities so that it gives an opportunity to Indian juniors to have a profile for college tennis in the US like any other American or
European player,’’ said Tushar. Further details can be had from the website, www.dreambig.events.
