European C'ship: Carolina Marin strolls into quarters

Double World Champion and World No. 1 Carolina Marin strolled into the quarterfinal as she took 27 minutes to beat Belarus' Alesia Zaitsava on day three of the European Championship in La Roche-sur-Yon. Carolina beat Alesia 21-6, 21-12 in the round of last 16.

Carolina will face either Kati Tolmoff or Nanna Vainio in the quarterfinal.

Second seeded Kirsty Gilmour also progressed to the next round beating Natalia Perminova 21-14, 13-21, 21-10. Kirsty faces sixth seeded Beatriz Correales in the quarterfinal.

Men's top seed Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark beat Nick Fransman 21-10, 21-12. He will face sixth seeded Brice Leverdex in the quarterfinals next.

Fifth seed shuttler Rajiv Ouseph, who defeated Lucas Corvee in his last 16 match, will face fourth seeded Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in the quarterfinal.

Over and all, it was a good day for top seeds, except for seventh seeded Kristina Gavnholt losing her last 16 match against Anna Thea Madsen of Denmark by 13-21, 21-14, 15-21.
