Stretching his sequence of draws to seven, Viswanathan Anand proved equal to Fabiano Caruana in 54 moves in the eighth round of the Croatia Grand Chess Tour on Thursday.
Anand, with 3.5 points, is placed seventh in the elite 12-player field.
Favourite Magnus Carlsen led with six points after beating China’s Ding Liren. Wesley So stayed half-a-point behind Carlsen after conquering Hikaru Nakamura.
