It will be an opportunity for India’s women’s side to test its bench strength when the 'A' team takes on Australia 'A' in the first of the three limited-overs games at the Bandra-Kurla Complex on Monday.

The Indian side led by Punam Raut will be hoping to start its campaign on a winning note. Punam, who was a key member of the Indian team, which reached the World Cup final, too will be hoping to use this series as a springboard to return into the main side.

India’s 'A' team also has seasoned campaigners in Mona Meshram, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Shikha Pandey. And when the action begins on Monday, the senior players will be aiming to put up an impressive show.

The 50-overs series will be followed by a T20 series, the squad for which will be announced later.

With Mumbai sizzling at 34 degrees, the Australian side could find it a bit difficult to adjust to the conditions. Featuring some of the seasoned players like Samantha Bates, Maitlan Brown, Lauren Cheatle and Tahlia McGrath in its ranks, Australia too has everything to play for.

The second and the third fixtures of the series will be played at the same venue on Wednesday and Friday.
