Christmas arrived early for Meghalaya as it registered a crushing innings-and-324-run victory over Mizoram inside two days of a Ranji Trophy league fixture here on Friday.
Gurinder Singh, 26, who notched up his career-best figures of 5 for 15 on Thursday, bettered his performance a day later, claiming 6 for 41. He coupled it with another scintillating show as he fell a run short of his third first-class century, caught behind off Marema, long after the damage had already been inflicted.

Meghalaya started at 292 for 4 after bad light stopped play on day one, and hastily put up a humongous 510 on the board, thanks to Yogesh Nagar’s 141-ball-144 who was well assisted by Gurinder.
Mizoram, which clearly hadn’t learned from its mistakes, came out to chase a massive 425 and was bowled out for a paltry 100 in 38.3 overs.
Meghalaya’s victory has pushed it up by two places to the second spot of the Plate Group.
Brief scores: Meghalaya 510 (Yogesh Nagar 144, Gurinder Singh 99, Sinan 4/151) beats Mizoram 86 (H M Ralte 40, Akhil Rajput 20, Gurinder 5/15) & 100 (Sinan 30, Taruwar Kohli 28, Gurinder 6/41) by an innings and 324 runs.
