Australia batsman Peter Handscomb will be given his chance to impress in the 50-over format in the third game of the series against Pakistan.

Peter Handscomb is set to make his one-day international debut when Australia face Pakistan in Perth on Thursday.

Handscomb has starred since making his first Test appearance in November, making two centuries and averaging 99.75 in four matches.

The 25-year-old will be given his chance to impress in the 50-over format in the third game of the series.

Handscomb replaces the injured Mitchell Marsh, while Billy Stanlake is in for the rested Mitchell Starc with the series locked at 1-1.

"He's done really well so this is a good reward for a good summer," Australia head coach Darren Lehmann said of Handscomb.

"Obviously we want four quality batters at the top so he'll get his chance there.

"The number four spot is there and Peter has done a really good job in the Test matches so he gets a crack at it."

Handscomb averages just 31.38 in domestic 50-over cricket and is without a century.
