IPL 2024 Playoffs qualification scenarios explained: KKR and RR seal top-four slots; What each team needs to do to qualify?

IPL 2024: With six games to go in the league stage, as many as five teams remain in the hunt to fill the remaining two slots for playoffs.

The Indian Premier League 2024 is into its home stretch with as many as five teams in the hunt to grab a playoffs spot.

Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are already eliminated from this season.

With Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals already qualified, only two spots remain up for grabs.

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has 14 points from 12 games and its net run rate saw a healthy jump after its mauling of Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday.

Because of its superior run-rate compared to LSG, RCB and DC only one win would also be enough for it to qualify for the playoffs.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

Chennai Super Kings is one of the three teams fighting it out for potentially the fourth and final spot. CSK has 14 points from 13 games and would need to win against RCB to confirm its spot in the playoffs.

DELHI CAPITALS

Delhi Capitals has 14 points in 14 games after its win over LSG.

For DC to qualify safely, SRH needs to lose its last two matches by a combined margin of 194 runs (chasing 200 each time) for DC to go past them on NRR.

LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS

Lucknow Super Giants did not help its cause when it lost against Delhi Capitals by a fine margin. LSG is currently with 12 points in 13 games.

Even if it beats MI, mathematically it will be an extremely difficult task for LSG to match its NRR with top teams.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BENGALURU

Royal Challengers Bengaluru has 12 points in 13 games and can get to a maximum of 14 it wins its against CSK.

RCB needs to secure a victory against CSK to have a chance at qualifying for the playoffs.
