The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President, Sourav Ganguly, announced on Saturday that India’s head coach, Anil Kumble, will deliver the inaugural Jagmohan Dalmiya Memorial Lecture. The lecture will be on September 28, two days before India’s second Test against New Zealand at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

“Anil Kumble will deliver the lecture. Now we have to take the permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make the memorial lecture an annual affair. But first let us set the ball rolling by organising the first one,” Ganguly said.

On the lines of the Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi Memorial Lecture, which is organised by the BCCI, and the Dilip Sardesai Memorial Lecture by the Mumbai Cricket Association, this will be the first time that an annual lecture is being named after a cricket administrator in India.

Dalmiya, who had been the chief of the CAB, the BCCI and the ICC, died at the age of 75 last year. Ganguly succeeded him at the CAB.
