After Ronaldinho set the tone for Premier Futsal season - 2 with a sparkling display on Friday, it was the turn of Bengaluru Royals to score four goals and thrash Kerala Cobras 4-0 in the second match of the star-studded league at NSCI’s Dome here on Saturday.

Jonathan Silva had put the Royals ahead after a barren opening quarter of ten minutes. The goalkeepers of the two sides, the Royals’ Hamla, declared the player of the match, and the Cobras' Daniel Cabezon, produced impressive displays. Their efficient work was amply reflected in the third-quarter ending in a dicey 1-0 scoreline in favour of Paul Scholes' Bengaluru.

It was only in the last quarter that a spurt of goals from Renzo Grasso, Scholes and Jonathan which swelled the Royals tally to four. Grasso’s goal was adjudged the moment of the match, but Scholes provided plenty of joy with a ten metre lob to beat the onrushing Cobras’ goalkeeper.

Deco's Telugu prevails in derby

Marquee player Deco did not manage to get on the scoresheet, but Long Beach born Californian Luis Gonzalez struck twice as Telugu Tigers recorded a convincing 3-1 win against Chennai Singhams in a fast paced game.

The 27-year-old Gonzalez scored the first and third goal which was sandwiched by Mauro Canal's second.

The Chennai side tried hard but the Tigers' goalkeeper Edurado Bragaglia baulked its efforts in the first three quarters, pulling off some spectacular saves. Once Bragaglia was replaced by Amit Pal in the fourth quarter, Angel Claudino scored the consolation goal for the Chennai side when a little over a minute was left in the match.
