India international Vinit Rai has joined Mumbai City FC on loan till the end of the ongoing Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) season, Odisha FC confirmed on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has played 70 Hero ISL matches so far in his career representing Kerala Blasters, Delhi Dynamos and Odisha FC and has been a part of the Bhubaneswar-based side since its inception in 2019.
“I’m delighted to join a Club who are not just the reigning champions but have ambitions of achieving even more this season. We have a squad full of talented players here at Mumbai City and I am determined to fight for my place and do my best to help the Club achieve our collective goals this season," he said after joining MCFC.

Vinit, a graduate of the Tata Football Academy, had also represented Dempo SC and Minerva Punjab FC earlier in his career.
He was selected as one of the captains in the ongoing eighth season of the League. Jerry Mawihmingthanga was named the captain after his departure.
MCFC's head coach, Des Buckingham welcomed the former OFC captain in the squad.
“Vinit is an experienced footballer. He is one of the top players in his position and knows exactly what it takes to be successful in the ISL. Vinit’s arrival gives us more options in the middle of the park and we’re confident he can and add value to what we’re trying to do here at Mumbai City," he said.
